Itinerary for Everest Base Camp Trek:
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport you are welcomed and then transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. In the evening you will be treated for dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and also briefed about the tour. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) & trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft) ( 3-4 hrs walk )
Early morning we fly from Kathmandu and land at the tiny airstrip at Lukla after a 40 minutes scenic flight. You will have time to stroll around, while the guide sorts and divides the load/ baggage to be carried by porters. Guide will manage the place for lunch depending upon the time of arrival at Lukla. We then take an easy walk to Phakding village where you can stroll around the village for local knowledge. Overnight stay.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft) (5-6 hrs walk)
After breakfast we will continue up the banks of the Dudh Koshi, crossing it twice by small suspension bridges before reaching the village of Monjo ,the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park. After entering the National park boundary we descend and a gradual walk brings us to the suspension bridge over the Bhote-Koshi river to Jorsalle village, the last village till Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazar is a village of Sagarmatha Zone and is located in Solukhumbu district area at 3,440 meters. It is the main place for trading and hub for the Khumbu Region. We stay there for Overnight.
Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
We spend for a day in Namche Bazaar to have a rest and to adjust our bodies to the altitude of (3,440m/11,283ft). The day can be spent at leisure either by strolling around, watching the beautiful panoramic views or the sunset. If it is a Saturday, we will witness a large crowd flocking the Saturday Bazar to the only shopping market in the surrounding areas. A visit to the Sherpa Museum will expose you to the Sherpa culture and the history of mountaineering. Stroll back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Namche to Tyangboche (3,867m/12684ft) (5-6 hrs walk)
After breakfast we start our trek with a pleasant walk through the forest while enjoying the magnificent view of mountains. The mighty peaks of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde along with a view of the eastern snow-capped mountains is a real treat. The trail leads uphill through the forest path to Tengboche, one of the most beautiful place in the Himalayas. The first thing that that comes before your eyes is the big monastery, then the large field with campsites, teahouses and lodges beneath the towering majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam.
Tengboche to Dingboche (4,358m/14,295 ft.) (5-6 hrs walk )
We then move down from Tengboche, passing through the rhododendron forest to Deboche and crossing a bridge over the raging Imja Khola river. Hug the valley wall, and then traverse the plains to Dingboche, the start of the Imja Tse Valley. Dingboche is also the gateway to Chukung and farther beyond lie the most challenging traverses towards Makalu area and Hinko Valley via Sherpani col 6,100m and Amphu Laptsa pass 5,780m.
Dingboche to Lobuche (4,928m/16164 ft) (5-6 hrs walk)
After moving downward incline to the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier, We continue walking through the rugged route to the resort at Lobuche. Above the huts looms the famous Lhotse Ridge.
Trek to Gorakshep (5,160m/16,929ft) & hike to Everest Base Camp (5,320m/17,450ft) (5-6 hrs walk)
After breakfast we continue our trek to Gorakshep on a windy and rocky path with the wonderful view of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse and other magnificent peaks. After checking in to a lodge having lunch, our adventure continues towards Everest Base Camp and to the Khumbu Ice-fall. The trail passes over rocky dunes, moraine and streams, till you reach the base camp. At the Everest Base Camp, the climbers gather for summiting Mount Everest during the high expedition season. We explore base camp and its surroundings glacier and return back to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.
Hike to Kala Pathar (5,550m/18,204ft) & trek back to Pheriche (6-7 hrs walk)
The guide will lead us on an early morning hike up to Kala Pathar for the most wonderful sunrise views of the Everest. It takes about 2 hours to reach this hill top. This small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Pumori and Ama Dablam along with the entire mountain views of the Khumbu Himalayan range. After spending some time there, we hike down to Gorekshep for breakfast and retrace back towards Pheriche for an overnight stay.
Pheriche to Kyanjuma (3,500m/11,480ft) (5-6 hrs walk)
On the descent, the going is easier and the pace faster. Carrying back lovely memories with us, we walk downhill towards Phungithanka via Tengboche and after crossing the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river, we trek towards Kyanjuma the junction of the trinity ways to Gokyo Valley, Khumjung village and Namche Bazar. Enroute we view Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawache and Lhotse. Then we move inside to the Rhododendron forest where we see some species of Phesants,Himalayan Griffons,Musk Dear and wild Goats. The evening can be spent exploring the surrounding area with scenic magnificence.
Kyanjuma to Khumjung to Monju (2,850m/9,348ft) (6-7 hrs walk)
After breakfast we undertake a short climb towards a hidden valley called Khumjung village, probably the biggest village of the areas and visit the Hillary School established by Sir Edmund Hillary. We proceed to the Khunde village and then to Namche Bazar for lunch via Syangboche airstrip which is the world’s highest airstrip. We walk back downhill for overnight stay at Monju.
Monju to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) (4-5 hrs walk)
In the morning we leisurely walk back to Lukla, enjoying the lush green scenery around. On arriving at Lukla, you will have time to move around the area. The guide will re-confirm your flight ticket. You could celebrate and enjoy the last dinner with your crew members before retiring for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Fly back to Kathmandu.
After an early morning flight to Kathmandu our guide will transfer you to the hotel. You can relax the whole day.
